Get Out There!

The Get Out There campaign is designed to increase the amount of spring grass in the cow’s diet. This reduces on farm costs, labour and increases animal performance. Combined these three effects can increase on farm profit by €2.70 cow/day.
The campaign is aimed at all milk suppliers in the Coop, but there is a particular focus on suppliers who have not previously spread fertiliser early and grazed cows early (Click here for HOW). The campaign will disseminate information through postcards, text messages and social media challenges. On farm videos will be produced throughout the spring.

The three goals from the campaign are:
- Increase the amount of nitrogen spread in February particularly urea and ensure 70 units of nitrogen are spread by 1st April
- Increase the number of grazing days in February and March
- Bring forward the end of the 1st rotation to mid April on most farms.
The campaign will cover early fertiliser, on-off grazing, managing wet weather & grazing infrastructure throughout the spring period. This will be demonstrated through 4 different periods of postcards, weekly videos & pictures, twitter, facebook, text messages, newsletters & radio explaining what local farmers are doing.
